Coach K's Biography
Coach K
Kristin “Coach K” Kowalczyk has help lead the pursuit of lacrosse in York County.

She is originally from Collegeville, Pa, where she played Lacrosse since 7th grade. She was an outstanding goalie at Methacton High School, where she still holds the school record with most saves (365). She was also a prominent leader on the Warrior team where she was named Captain her senior year.

She graduated high school in 1999, and headed to East Stroudsburg University in Pa. She played lacrosse for the Warriors for 2 years. She helped the Warriors to the NCAA championship game against Bloomsburg. She had to make a difficult choice of choosing lacrosse or numerous other extra curricular activities. She chose to pursue her education in elementary education and special education. She ended up working at Stony Acres, which is an outdoor education center that she truly believes “opened the door to so many new opportunities.” She also worked at Camelback Ski Resort as a snowboard instructor for 4 years.

When she graduated in 2003, she moved to York, Pa where she got a teaching job at Susquehannock High School. Four years later, she continues to teach special education at the high school and is very active within the high school being the advisor of SADD, Sophomore Class Council, and Community Service Club.

At age 22, she took on one of her biggest challenges- head varsity coach of the Warriors girls’ lacrosse team. She was only 4 years older then the seniors on the team, and this was the first time she was ultimately in charge of a team.

In 2002, Coach K started Golden Girls’ Lacrosse, which inspires young girls to increase their self-esteem, while playing the game they love. She held an Indoor program at the JCC, and it was a huge success. In 2003, she held her first indoor tournament where she had 10 teams from around the area come out to play in.

In 2003, the Warriors had the best season to date. "I truly believe if you put your mind to something, it will happen. Like I told the girls, a successful team beats with one heart.” And so the Warriors captured the first ever York Girls Championship, and were 12-0. Led by Coach K’s spirit and passion for the game of lacrosse, more girls are becoming inspired to play lacrosse in college.

2006-2007 has been a busy year for her. Golden Girls Lacrosse continues to grow with more indoor opportunities and also more tournaments. She started a website that would help coaches, players, and colleges become more educated on York Lacrosse.

In her spare time, she works at Gold Arrow Camp in Ca, and this summer she will attend NOLS in Wyoming.
